Department: Design & Estimating

Job Purpose:
Manage the Design & Estimating department to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and client-focused processes.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee a team of design professionals and estimating department to support design and quoting stages.
Ensure timely project processing and detailed handover.
Maintain commercial information and ensure compliance with contractual and building regulations.
Daily liaison with team members to track workloads and ensure service satisfaction across departments.
Engage with customer representatives to enhance relationships and identify design solutions.
Provide accurate cost and value reporting at project and business unit levels.
Adhere to and improve processes through KPIs and new technologies.
Review contracts/JCTs for appropriate terms and risk management.
Support the Operations team in organizing project details to address on-site challenges.

Line Management Responsibilities:
Serve as a role model focused on company values.
Manage the performance and well-being of team members, including regular 1-2-1’s and annual appraisals.
Handle absence management, including logging and return-to-work interviews.
Coordinate cross-departmental inductions for new hires.
Collaborate with HR for recruitment, onboarding, and training.

Key Attributes/Skills:
Proven experience in the construction industry, with knowledge of building regulations.
Experience in quantity surveying/estimating within commercial real estate projects
Understanding of specifications, bills of quantities, and drawings.
Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
Flexible, customer-focused attitude with strong attention to detail.
Committed to continuous improvement and adept at architectural design and space planning.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and foster interdepartmental relationships.
Challenge resources and costs effectively.
HND/degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
Be a supportive leader who addresses team queries and challenges.

Salary/Package:
£80-85,000 basic salary
Range of company benefits and some hybrid working 1-2 days a week
Office located in West/SW London borders
